Oct. 15, 2021 — This spring, Collin College is offering a tuition and fee credit program to qualifying new students. Individuals in the college’s service area who have completed high school, or the equivalent, and do not have any previous college credit can receive a tuition and fee credit for up to seven hours of courses for the Spring 2022 semester.

This offer is a one-time effort to help eligible new students explore college opportunities and take a major stride toward achieving their educational goals.

The college is also offering grants for qualifying current students who had to take a semester off from college due to the pandemic. Students who have previous college credits but did not take classes in Spring 2021 and are not currently enrolled at the college will likely be able to receive tuition and fee assistance.

“It is important for students to be aware of the added resources which are currently available due to the pandemic,” said Dr. Jay Corwin, chief student success officer. “Collin College is committed to student success, and we want to ensure we can help students keep moving forward toward attaining their educational dreams.”

Having a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file is an automatic qualifier for many grants, although it is not required for all of them. All applicants enrolled this spring who have a completed FAFSA on file will receive some type of funding.

由于新冠肺炎疫情,许多学生和家庭的就业收入发生了变化。 Students with reduced resources due to COVID-19 should reach out to the college’s financial aid office at www.bc-jinsha.com/gettingstarted/financialaid/ to discuss their changed circumstances.

“The Student Success team is eager to assist any students in finding the best combination of grant aid that will be available due to the pandemic,” Dr. Corwin said. “This is really a great time to be a student at Collin College.”

Collin College serves more than 56,000 credit and continuing education students annually and offers more than 100 degrees and certificates, including new Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and Bachelor of Applied Technology (BAT) in Cybersecurity degrees. The only public college based in Collin County, Collin College is a partner to business, government and industry, providing customized training and workforce development.
