Nov. 2, 2021 — Collin College’s McKinney Campus has been awarded the Inspiring Service to Others Award by Volunteer McKinney.

The Inspiring Service to Others Award is presented to a public or private school, home school group, or other group that endeavors to teach and demonstrate serving others to its students through curriculum, programs, and community service initiatives.

Dr. Mark Smith, provost of the McKinney Campus, said his campus was honored to receive the award.

“One of the college’s core values is Service and Involvement,” Dr. Smith said. “Collin College learners and employees strive to fulfill this core value through the service-learning opportunities offered in many of our programs and their active involvement with the communities we serve.”

In presenting the award, Volunteer McKinney noted that Collin College stands by its core values of service, involvement, dignity, respect, and integrity by allowing its employees the flexibility needed to make a difference in their community and offering student programs that require volunteerism.

Volunteer McKinney’s mission is to connect people to their passion through volunteerism and supporting McKinney area nonprofits through training and collaboration.

Collin College serves more than 56,000 credit and continuing education students annually and offers more than 100 degrees and certificates, including new Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and Bachelor of Applied Technology (BAT) in Cybersecurity degrees.
