金沙博彩大学的学生在第一次SkillsUSA比赛中名列前茅

May 4, 2023 Collin College students earned top marks in the Texas SkillsUSA Postsecondary competition in Houston, April 13-15, with two students earning spots in the national SkillsUSA competition.

SkillsUSA is a national organization dedicated to developing the country's workforce through personal, workplace, and technical skills. The organization serves more than 300,000 middle school, high school, and college students annually, with 4,000 local chapters. The organizations framework contributes to students being job-ready after graduation because participants have a better understand of what employers want in an employee.

In addition to training opportunities, SkillsUSA provides competitions to reward students for their hard work learning their crafts. This year is the first time current Collin College students have participated in the competition.

This years winners were: Winferd Vermillion of Houston, Missouri First Place, Collision Repair Technology; Lisa Dorman of McKinney摄影第一名; James Vaughan of Haughton, Louisiana Second Place, Collision Damage Appraisal and Total Loss Evaluation Technology; Scott Lumley of Plano Second Place, Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration; 阿肯色州小石城的埃默里鹰队,摄影第二名; Prosper汽车服务技术第三名Cameron Tackman; Jack Warren of McKinney Third Place, Photography. The winners were awarded gold, silver, or bronze medallions and a certificate commemorating their accomplishments.

Dorman and Vermillion advance to the national SkillsUSA competition later this year because of their gold medal success.

Many other students from Frisco Campus, Plano Campus, and Technical Campus also participated in the competition and earned valuable experience for their hard work.

Collin College serves more than 57,000 credit and continuing education students annually and offers more than 100 degrees and certificates, including a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), a Bachelor of Applied Technology (BAT) in Cybersecurity, and a Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) in Construction Management.
