The Public Safety Training Center hosted the Birds Eye View 2025 Black Ops event Sept. 19-21.

This was an interdisciplinary initiative through Collin College Police, Fire, and EMS. The Birds Eye View Project provides support to veterans and first responders through fundraising and charitable donations. Collin College simulation instructors also participated as volunteers, showcasing incredible moulage work, helping create an unforgettable experience for participants.

Adjunct Nursing Professor Carrieann Wetton was presented with the “Life Saver Award” from the Dallas Fire Department and the Texas State Fair. Wetton volunteered at the Nurse’s Aid Station at the state fair and assisted a 62-year-old woman with chest pain. Wetton’s quick response stabilized the woman, who was then transported to the hospital and underwent a procedure that ultimately saved her life.

Adjunct Music Professor Travis Smith was nominated and selected by the American School Band Directors Association (ASBDA) membership to receive the ASBDA “Lifetime Service to Bands” in honor of Al and Gladys Wright. This award recognizes a retired band director who made significant contributions to school bands during a distinguished working career and continues to do so in retirement.The award will be presented on Dec. 18 during the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago.

iCollin Virtual Campus Professor Courtenay Jauregui was awarded the prestigious (and inaugural) Lebrecht Endowed Chair for Scholarly and Civic Engagementaward. Congratulations, Courtenay!

Associate Dean Cathy Thurman successfully defended her dissertation, “Choices Influencing Completion Rates for Developmental Math Students: A Logistic Regression Study,” earning her Doctor of Education from East Texas A&M University.

Surgical Professions Professor Christopher Scott presented at the Texas State Assembly Conference in Houston, on Sept. 27. Scott’s lecture titled“Rock in the OR” discussed the career pathways to the Surgical Assisting profession.

A group of last year’s Frisco ISD dual credit students from fundamentals of information security courses assisted with upgrading the Frisco Rough Riders’ stadium last summer. They carried out this project in collaboration with Reliable Technologies. Their work was featured in a Community Impact story.

The inaugural Collin College Health Information Management (HIM) Workshop was successfully held at the Frisco Campus Conference Center, raising over $3,300 for the HIM Excellence Fund. The event hosted more than 100 industry professionals and made a notable contribution to the Veterans Resource Center (VRC) Canned Food Drive, reinforcing the program’s commitment to community engagement and service.

Collin College iCollin Virtual Campus Provost, Dr. Sarah Lee, was appointed to a three-year term to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board’s Learning Technology Advisory Committee. This is the second term for Dr. Lee, who served on the advisory committee from 2021-24.

iCollin Virtual Campus Professor Sukanya Subramanian was accepted into the Community Leadership Program: Leadership Frisco Class 29. Congratulations, Sukanya!

Associate Dean Jill Nugent was accepted into the Fall 2025 Collin County District Attorney's Citizen Prosecutor Academy. This community outreach program consists of 12 meetings this fall and is presented by District Attorney Greg Willis and his staff. It provides an informative perspective on the Collin County criminal justice system.

Weekend College fall enrollment is up 5% year over year. More than 1,600 students are engaging with Collin College through weekend courses this fall.

This fall, the iCollin Virtual Campus is administering 12 shared dual credit online sections and supporting739 dual credit high studentsspread throughout various sections. Overall, students from60high schools and homeschoolsare enrolled in 393 online iCollinVirtual Campus sections, or 41% of our web offerings.
