Safe, effective surgical patient care begins with proper cleaning and sterilization of surgical instrumentation
In the operating room adhering to sterile techniques, setting up the sterile surgical field with the required instruments, supplies, and equipment, passing instruments to the surgeon and assistant to use
At the operative field providing skills and abilities that give the surgeon an extra pair of eyes and hands, direct manual and/or instrumental assistance to meet the in-procedure demands of a surgeon during a surgical operation
