July 1, 2021 — Collin College has been named to the Best for Vets: Colleges 2021 rankings by 军事时报. 这是该学院第九次获得这一殊荣。

“Collin College works tirelessly to ensure that all its students, including veterans, have the resources and services they need to make their educational goals a reality,” said Collin College Senior Vice President Dr. Abe Johnson. “The college is committed to working with our student veterans and is very proud of the continued acknowledgement of its efforts by 军事时报.”

Collin College is second in Texas and 15th nationwide among two-year public colleges with general education offerings, according to the rankings at https://colleges.militarytimes.com. The only two-year college to rank higher than Collin College in the Southwest region is Central Texas College in Killeen, which is also the home to Fort Hood. Collin College ranked 16th among all two- and four-year colleges in the Southwest region.

Rankings are based on publicly available data from the U.S. Departments of Education, Veterans Affairs and Defense, as well as survey results assessing veteran and military services and rates of academic achievement. In an article on the listings, 军事时报 noted that more than 300 schools participated in the latest Best for Vets: Colleges survey. The survey included more than 70 questions about the schools’ costs, programs, policies, and services that impact military-connected students. Federal data from the U.S. Departments of Education, Veterans Affairs and Defense, were also considered.

Collin College served 987 veterans in 2019-20, the period for which the survey was conducted. The district works to ensure that veterans have the support they need to get the most out of their college experience. Information on financial aid, Veterans Affairs education benefits, personal counseling, and membership in the Student Veterans of America is available through the college’s Veterans Resource Center (www.bc-jinsha.com/studentresources/veteransresources).

Collin College serves more than 58,000 credit and continuing education students annually and offers more than 100 degrees and certificates, including new Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and Bachelor of Applied Technology (BAT) in Cybersecurity degrees. The only public college based in Collin County, Collin College is a partner to business, government and industry, providing customized training and workforce development.
